Zack Snyder surprised the internet yesterday once again by revealing a pic of Jason Momoa in his full Aquaman gear from Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, out March 23rd 2016, and Justice League Part 1, out November 17th 2017. Honestly, this is exactly what I would expect a WB/DC film version of Aquaman to look like. Remove all color and joy for sleekness and grittiness, a process that I refer to on the Confirmed Epic Pocdcast as Nolanization, named in honor of how the great Chris Nolan handled the last Batman trilogy. Personally, I like the direction WB and Zack Snyder are taking their film universe by making fantastical thing as grounded as possible. I believe it separates the DC film brand from Marvel Studios. You also have to assume that the caption,"Unite the Seven" refers to the seven most likely members of the Justice League film roster: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Cyborg.
What do you think of the film version Aquaman? Or the direction of the DC Cinematic Universe in general? Please let us know in the comments!
So, is this Calamari Drogo?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though, I'm digging the look. I've always loved the crazy, bearded look for Aquaman. If only he had the hook hand, right? So far I'm liking the costume designs for the new DC films. I'm interested to see what the rest look like.
Oh, and while it seems obvious that this refers to uniting the current seven Justice League heavy hitters, it could also refer to the seven seas.
